AUDIENCE ↬ teachers & admins

CONTENT ↬ all

GRADE LEVELS ↬ all grades

I have been an INFOhio iCoach for several years and I have to say they have some pretty awesome resources that I don't think teachers are very aware of. You are missing out! This link takes you to a flyer they have prepared just for teachers - and it covers a wide variety of topics. Check it out!

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this to help them identify good resources for topics such as robotics, AI, cybersecurity, drones, content creation, and several more! Click on the flyer and all of the link become liver for you. Wow!

Wheel of Careers

WEBSITE ↬ Wheel of Careers: Get This Interactive Exploration Activity for Teens

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers

CONTENT ↬ career

GRADE LEVELS ↬ 6-12

If you teach middle or high school, I'm willing to bet the subject of future careers has come up in your classroom. Whether you are a content teacher or a special areas teacher, talking with teens about future careers has become a norm, but I don't feel like it always has a strong support or good activities to help teachers. This Wheel of Careers can help!

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this as a group guessing game to prompt students to discuss how skills learned in school (math, science, communication) apply to real-world roles. Or dig deeper by using the provided link to a FREE Everfi course to further explore a career path of the students choosing. This can tie into most content areas!

6 Ed Tech Tools to Try in 2026

WEBSITE ↬ 6 Ed Tech Tools to Try in 2026

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers & admins

CONTENT ↬ all

GRADE LEVELS ↬ all grades

I have followed Jennifer Gonzalez & her Cult of Pedagogy blog for many years. Every year in January, she and her team share out this small highlight of edtech tools they have found to be timely and valuable. This year their 6 tools are: Makers Making Change, BandLab, Brilliant, Napkin AI, Short Answer, & Retro Report. This blog & accompanying podcast will allow you to decide which of these you'd like to check out for yourself.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this to find new and reliable tools they might want to try for themselves and in their classrooms. Cult of Pedagogy (Jennifer Gonzalez) is a highly respectable educator who has been sharing 6 tools every year for a number of years. She and her team do a lot of research to find ones that will provide benefits and advantages to teachers who are interested. This is part of a bigger project - the Teacher's Guide to Tech - they put together to provide the support, reviews, and guidance we need in this ever changing world of edtech.

TAPS

WEBSITE ↬ TAPS

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers & admins

CONTENT ↬ phones in schools

GRADE LEVELS ↬ all grades

"The Toolkit for Assessing Phones in Schools (The TAPS) is a free, ready-to-use toolkit designed to help elementary, middle and high schools evaluate their phone policy. The TAPS was jointly developed by the Stanford Social Media Lab and the Tech and Society Lab at NYU Stern."

I have become a big believer in the need to limit/eliminate the use of students' cell phones in school. I also believe we, as a society, need to push back on the "norm" of giving devices to kids at a young age. This resource is built for schools to help your school figure out what is best for you. I love that it is set up in a way for you to include ALL the "players" - students, parents, teachers, and admin.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers sharing this resource with their school leaders. Some of us need to start a conversation, some of us need to continue a conversation, and some are at the point of revisiting conversations to ensure the policy best fits their community.

Civic Online Reasoning

WEBSITE ↬ Civic Online Reasoning

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers

CONTENT ↬ all things digital citizenship & evaluating sources; ELA, Science, History, etc

GRADE LEVELS ↬ middle & high school

This site is amazing! There is a mind boggling amount of information available at our students fingertips ... how do we help them decide what is credible or not ... valuable or not ... real or fake? I know I struggle at times. I also know that we can't afford to NOT help our students learn how to properly fact check and verify. As they state on their homepage, "The COR curriculum provides free lessons and assessments that help you teach students to evaluate online information that affects them, their communities, and the world."

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this in ALL classrooms. Especially ones that focus on research and evaluation of sources. The lessons are freely available - once you create your account - and they are high quality. Organized in collections, it helps you provide a consistent approach.

5 Clue Challenge

WEBSITE ↬ 5 Clue Challenge

AUDIENCE ↬ students

CONTENT ↬ research

GRADE LEVELS ↬ middle school & high school

I remember hearing about the 5 Clue Challenge years ago, but I somehow lost track of it only to be stumble upon it again recently. It is just as fun as I remember! Michael Soskil created this idea to encourage students to practice research skills and have a little fun along the way. The way it works is you watch the video and use the clues in the video to help you research. The quicker you can guess the location the more point you earn.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this as a warm up for class or even when you find that you have a few extra minutes. For more of a challenge, you can team students up to work together or make it into an individual challenge. After your students are comfortable, you might even encourage them to create their own 5 clue challenge to share with the class.

GRADE LEVELS ↬ junior high & up

I was cleaning out an email inbox and I stumbled on this gem ... and the history teacher in me jumped for joy! I couldn't believe that I hadn't paid more attention to DocsTeach.org . Wow!

This website is from one of my favorite places in Washington, DC - the National Archives. Built to "Bring History to Life", "Engage Students", "Access Primary Sources", "Teach with Documents", & "Explore Popular Topics", you won't be at a loss for finding primary sources and creating activities you can use with your students. Be sure to check out their library of activities other educators have created and shared.

Bookmark this one and come back often!

Recently, a teacher asked about a good online dictionary for her students. She didn't want to just send them off to "Google" words they were investigating. Considering their age - 3rd graders - I totally agree.

I did a little investigation and came across this little gem! It's not "just" a dictionary ... there are games, a section for educators, a thesaurus, and more. Do yourself a favor and check this out. And then share it with your students and colleagues!

Informational Postcards

 WEBSITE ↬ Informational Postcards
AUDIENCE ↬ students
CONTENT ↬ any/all

GRADE LEVELS ↬ grades 1 & up

I've got another "research" themed template to share today. I created this one for a teacher who requested something for health related topics. She had reached out via the "Templates for Teachers" site Beth Kingsley & I created to share our templates.

I know there are times when we want students to share their knowledge in creative ways and I thought this postcard idea was excellent. The front provides the visual interest & topic. The back is fairly small (older students can shrink the font size to allow for additional detail) thereby forcing a limit of overall amount of information.

I provided 3 different "fronts" you can allow students to choose from, or use as inspiration for their own design (after all, there is no right or wrong on the front). The back guides students where to insert the information. And you can't miss the neon speech bubbles with the guidance for students.

*** For an additional challenge ... I suggest having students find an appropriate REAL address for the address spot & even find a small image that could work as the stamp ... but matches their topic! ***

*** BIG NEWS!!! *** Beth & I are working to migrate our Templates for Teachers site so that the links work better!! Look for updates soon! For now, please keep "right-clicking" & opening in a new tab/window. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Famous Person Infographic

WEBSITE ↬ Famous Person Infographic w/Research outline
AUDIENCE ↬ students
CONTENT ↬ ELA & history

GRADE LEVELS ↬ grades 4 & up

I love making "things". I love creating templates for teachers & their students. Last year, I created a simple Famous Person infographic. The same teacher I created it for came to me this year and said she wanted to do more.

The template I've shared here is the result. We wanted:

  • students to do more of the research independently
  • reinforce the students following directions
  • a relatively quick project
I hope you and your students enjoy this template. It can be used for specific topics or allow students to choose any famous person. The final Slide includes suggestions for students to go further.

If you like this template, I've shared it on my co-created site, Templates for Teachers. I'd be thrilled if you check it out!
