AI Quests

WEBSITE ↬ AI Quests (from Google)

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers

CONTENT ↬ AI

GRADE LEVELS ↬ Middle school

AI Quests is built for teachers to use in their middle school classrooms to help teach students about AI. It is designed to be a game. There are 3 quests students can choose from. The site also includes teacher resources to help even the most new-to-AI teachers use AI Quests to teach about AI.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers use Google’s code-free AI Quests to teach data literacy and ethics by letting students train interactive models to see firsthand how biased data distorts results. STEM and social studies educators can also integrate these quests into interdisciplinary units.

Wheel of Careers

WEBSITE ↬ Wheel of Careers: Get This Interactive Exploration Activity for Teens

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers

CONTENT ↬ career

GRADE LEVELS ↬ 6-12

If you teach middle or high school, I'm willing to bet the subject of future careers has come up in your classroom. Whether you are a content teacher or a special areas teacher, talking with teens about future careers has become a norm, but I don't feel like it always has a strong support or good activities to help teachers. This Wheel of Careers can help!

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this as a group guessing game to prompt students to discuss how skills learned in school (math, science, communication) apply to real-world roles. Or dig deeper by using the provided link to a FREE Everfi course to further explore a career path of the students choosing. This can tie into most content areas!

INFOhio: Decodable and Phonics eBooks for Early Readers

WEBSITE ↬ INFOhio: Decodable and Phonics eBooks for Early Readers

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers

CONTENT ↬ ELA, early reading

GRADE LEVELS ↬ preK-3

I am an INFOhio Coach and I love their resources. I believe it is a very under used resource and I wanted to be sure to share this one out. With the focus on early literacy, these books and resources can go a long way to help your students (and yourself!) with supporting their early reading.

Not only does this share books for your early readers, it also shares professional learning ebooks to support YOU in teaching.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers sharing the books with their students but also the ability to create collections to share with other teachers can be super helpful when you work as a team to support each other. While reading with physical books is super important, having access to quality ebooks is also a great classroom activity (or to share with home for times when parents ask what digital resources are available).

Teachers can also take advantage of the professional resources included in this article.

6 Ed Tech Tools to Try in 2026

WEBSITE ↬ 6 Ed Tech Tools to Try in 2026

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers & admins

CONTENT ↬ all

GRADE LEVELS ↬ all grades

I have followed Jennifer Gonzalez & her Cult of Pedagogy blog for many years. Every year in January, she and her team share out this small highlight of edtech tools they have found to be timely and valuable. This year their 6 tools are: Makers Making Change, BandLab, Brilliant, Napkin AI, Short Answer, & Retro Report. This blog & accompanying podcast will allow you to decide which of these you'd like to check out for yourself.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this to find new and reliable tools they might want to try for themselves and in their classrooms. Cult of Pedagogy (Jennifer Gonzalez) is a highly respectable educator who has been sharing 6 tools every year for a number of years. She and her team do a lot of research to find ones that will provide benefits and advantages to teachers who are interested. This is part of a bigger project - the Teacher's Guide to Tech - they put together to provide the support, reviews, and guidance we need in this ever changing world of edtech.

Hello Ruby

WEBSITE ↬ Hello Ruby

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers & students

CONTENT ↬ STEAM

GRADE LEVELS ↬ K-4

Hello Ruby is a wonderful resource for teachers and students to learn more about computational thinking and coding. The creator, Linda Liukas, is passionate about encouraging creativity and coding. Hello Ruby includes apps, books, and even curriculum to help teachers guide their students on this learning journey.

At the beginning, Hello Ruby was a children's book and has grown from there. The Hello Ruby books are in multiple languages. The website also contains a page with a number of off-line activities you can do with students. The "Teach" page is also freely available - videos and workbooks all available at no cost. There really is no reason to NOT use Hello Ruby in your classroom.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this in their classrooms throughout the year to encourage computational thinking. It could be a singular unit or activities spread throughout the year.

5 Clue Challenge

WEBSITE ↬ 5 Clue Challenge

AUDIENCE ↬ students

CONTENT ↬ research

GRADE LEVELS ↬ middle school & high school

I remember hearing about the 5 Clue Challenge years ago, but I somehow lost track of it only to be stumble upon it again recently. It is just as fun as I remember! Michael Soskil created this idea to encourage students to practice research skills and have a little fun along the way. The way it works is you watch the video and use the clues in the video to help you research. The quicker you can guess the location the more point you earn.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this as a warm up for class or even when you find that you have a few extra minutes. For more of a challenge, you can team students up to work together or make it into an individual challenge. After your students are comfortable, you might even encourage them to create their own 5 clue challenge to share with the class.

Peer Feedback: Making It Meaningful

WEBSITE ↬ Peer Feedback: Making It Meaningful

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers

CONTENT ↬ all

GRADE LEVELS ↬ aimed at grades 3 & up; modification might work for younger students

Feedback is important for both the creator and those giving the feedback. I've realized in recent years, honest & real peer feedback can go much further than teacher feedback. I am incorporating more peer feedback in various ways in my own classroom this year and really appreciate Catlin's choice board. I believe most students struggle to frame the feedback in an appropriate way - they don't want to be mean or they simply don't know how to take their thoughts and frame it in a way to make it valuable to their peer. Catlin's choice board can really help with both.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this across all content areas and for a variety of activities. I recently had my students complete a project and they had to provide feedback for each other. Comparing this choice board to the feedback form I had, this one wins, hands down! Since it's shared via a Google Doc, you can easily tweak it to best fit you and your students.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this with after school clubs and groups to encourage students, girls in particular, to learn more about technology. Don't miss out on the career profiles so your students can also have a peek into future possibilities.

Lauren Tarshis: "I Survived" resources

WEBSITE ↬ Lauren Tarshis: "I Survived" resources

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers

CONTENT ↬ ELA & History

GRADE LEVELS ↬ grades 3+

I am not on social media as much as I have been, but one day I was scrolling through Twitter/X and I stopped and stared. The much beloved "I Survived" author, Lauren Tarshis shared a post stating she has classroom resources to support her books on her website. AND ... she provides it all free! Did you know this? I did not! I had to jump on and see it for myself.

This isn't too good to be true. It's true. Amazing! Thank you, Lauren! Thank you for supporting teachers! Not only are your books amazing, so are you!!!

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this whenever they use an "I Survived" book in their classroom, or if they have small groups, or even individual students reading these books. From related books and videos to book club activities and resources, you can find them all on the "I Survived" resources pages.

... and several of the books are in Spanish! They, too, have a resource page. Awesome!

YouTube transcript

WEBSITE ↬ YouTube Transcript

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers

CONTENT ↬ all

GRADE LEVELS ↬ all grades

Have you thought much about closed captioning? I do ... and then I don't. I love using it. I turn it on YouTube videos all the time (& I increase the speed of the video, too!) so I can follow it better. I also use it on my tv. It's an AWESOME tool to have on when watching a video in the classroom, too.

I've made plenty of videos, but I've not given much thought to the transcript. This website - wow! - will give you a transcript!!! I tried it with a video I created and yes!!! It works! I do need to clean up the punctuation a bit, but the bulk of the work is done.

Thanks, Tony Vincent, for sharing this out on Twitter.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this to generate transcripts for students - especially ELL students. And, if you are a teacher who makes their own videos for student support, use this website to create your transcripts to include with the video. (I think it took about 5 seconds for it to give me the transcript.)

Unite for Literacy

WEBSITE ↬ Unite for Literacy

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers & students of ESL/ELL

CONTENT ↬ ESL/ELL

GRADE LEVELS ↬ mostly primary and lower elementary, although it can be a resource for older students if you feel it's appropriate

My previous district was experiencing an influx of non-English speakers. We've had very limited experience with this, so any resource we could find we were grateful for. Our students spoke a variety of languages ... not just Spanish.

The website I'm sharing today would be one of those awesome resources! Simple books students can choose from and listen/read in both English and about 20 other languages.

NO accounts are needed, just provide the link to this site and students can read and enjoy!

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this with younger students who do not speak English as their primary language, or are learning to speak English. In a primary or lower elementary class, this site can definitely become a great way for ESL/ELL students to independently choose books and hear both the English and native language version.

While the books are simple, this has the potential for helping older students with recognition and independent practice & learning. Older ESL/ELL students might like having the independence to use the books as reference for learning pronunciation or specific vocabulary on a topic.

For students learning a second language, this might also be a great resource helping them to learn a language other than English!

I can't even begin to guess how many books are available!

Personal Finance Curriculum for the Real World

WEBSITE ↬ Personal Finance Curriculum for the Real World

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers

CONTENT ↬ financial literacy

GRADE LEVELS ↬ High school

Do you teach - or know someone who is responsible for teaching - financial literacy? Then this is going to be a great resource! Dave Ramsey really knows what he's talking about. I read one of his books more than a decade ago & I was amazed at the simplicity of his systems. This website shares his finance curriculum for high school students. I guarantee it's worth your time!

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using this AS their curriculum. All students need instruction on finances and how to manage them. Gone are the days of checkbook balancing ... in are the days of understanding how to manage money in this digital world.

OEA Learning Opportunity

WEBSITE ↬ OEA Learning Opportunity

AUDIENCE ↬ Ohio teachers

CONTENT ↬ all

GRADE LEVELS ↬ all grades

This is too good of an opportunity to pass up sharing. It's not a traditional resource - as in, you probably won't use this site in your class. Instead, it's an opportunity for Ohio Educators to earn credit for renewal of licenses. And it's not super expensive! (Which is a huge relief!) The summer is the perfect time to jump on this opportunity ... but you can continue learning through the school year.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
Ohio teachers can use this opportunity to earn graduate credits - pretty inexpensively - in order to level up or renew their license. There appear to be quite a variety of topics to learn about.

NatGeo Kids - games & more!

AUDIENCE ↬ students

CONTENT ↬ science; has content integrations possible

GRADE LEVELS ↬ grades K-5

This. Is. Fun!

I stumbled on this site and I've been sharing it with just about everyone I have come across. It is PACKED with games and opportunities for fun! And depending on the area kids explore, it can also be used for learning.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see students using this site in a lot of different ways. There are matching games, memory games, find the difference, mad libs, puzzles, jokes and videos. I shared this with kindergarteners and one of the top picks was a maze - getting a dolphin through a maze to its family. Amazing animal videos were another hit - no video was more than 2 minutes long. In a third grade classroom, the jokes were a hit! (Lots of reading and laughing going on in there!) This is also the class I learned about the mad libs - packed with parts of speech and lots of giggles with the resulting story.

The videos have facts about animals - making it a great resource for research.
The memory & matching games help students practice their memory skills in a very fun way.
The "find the differences" help students visually compare & contrast.

... and so much more! This website has been personally tested out by me & I give it two thumbs up!

Ohio Learning Community

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers

CONTENT ↬ any/all

GRADE LEVELS ↬ all grades

I was able to attend OETC 2023 in February, 2023, and attended the session sharing this wonderful opportunity for teachers. I was very impressed by it!

The Ohio Learning Community is founded by 3 guys who wanted to bring a professional learning platform to life. It is a joint effort by 4 ESC's (Educational Service Centers) in Ohio. They have recently launched the platform offering 8 courses with many more in the works. And if you can believe it, they are FREE for Ohio educators! You can opt to purchase graduate credit, as well, if that is something you are interested in.

The courses are all aligned to the ISTE Standards for Educators.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
Teachers will definitely be able to use this complete professional learning hours. Since it's online, it's easy to do anywhere you can connect to the internet. Be sure to check out the description of each of the courses and enroll today!

Annotate.net

WEBSITE ↬ Annotate.net

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers

CONTENT ↬ all content

GRADE LEVELS ↬ all grades

I've been on a mission lately. One that I've been intrigued by and one that hasn't proven to be easy and I can't say that I've got a "perfect" solution. BUT - I can say Annotate.net is a tool I came across during this search and I've been happy with what I've learned about it.

A teacher has asked my help in finding something that will allow her to write on screen while she is moving around the classroom and even possibly allowing students to do the same. She has been fairly happy with her bluetooth mouse that gives her the mobility but she's struggling a little with the annotation side of it. (That's the part that isn't exactly solved.)

Annotate.net allows anyone to do exactly this. Annotate on a web pages - and it's awesome! I've created the free teacher account and installed the extension (HIGHLY recommend it) and I've played around with it. It even "holds" the annotations when you scroll! So many benefits.

HOW CAN TEACHERS USE THIS RESOURCE?
I can see teachers using Annotate.net to easily allow them to digitally annotate on any web page. This is only the "tip of the iceberg" ... there is a TON of options. You can create classes in order to share your screen directly with students, you can record lessons, you can create assessments, and so much more! It is an impressive tool and I've only just begun to dig in.

Do you use Annotate.net? I'd love to know how in the comments below.

Holy mackerel! This is a GOLD MINE!!! It comes from Matt Miller - of Ditch That Textbook fame - and let me tell you ... wow!  If you are familiar with Netflix, this site will feel super easy to navigate because it is built specifically with a similar feel. Videos are divided into age groups and content areas, making searching easy.

No profile needed ... no subscription to renew ... BUT a wealth of videos to be found!

* Caution * just because a video is shared here, please still use your district's protocols and guidelines before showing it with your students. And please don't ever show a video in your class without having previewed it first.

Virtual Field Trips

WEBSITE ↬ Virtual Field Trips

AUDIENCE ↬ teachers & students

CONTENT ↬ SS, Science, Geography, Ancient Civilization, Language & Expedition

GRADE LEVELS ↬ grades K-9

The past few years have taught us that we are not alone and that we can make connections around the world. It has also taught us we cannot always physically "go" to places - yet opportunities are readily available for us to virtually go.

This site provides one example of these kinds of adventures - and it packs a bigger punch than just the field trip. Each trip comes with activities that further support the trip and allows for a richer experience. The filtering ability also makes it super easy to discover which trips will support specific content.

*** This is a paid site - I know costs can be a struggle - but the cost for this site is more than reasonable.

Built to "Bring History to Life", "Engage Students", "Access Primary Sources", "Teach with Documents", & "Explore Popular Topics", you won't be at a loss for finding primary sources and creating activities you can use with your students. Be sure to check out their library of activities other educators have created and shared.

GRADE LEVELS ↬ grades 5ish & up (since most social media platforms require the age 13+ BUT ... discussions & training of younger students is never a bad idea)

Social media is not going away ... and like it or not, our students are using it. Some have parents at home who are talking with them, and some do not. Social media does not have to be a bad thing.

Social Media TestDrive Modules can provide the opportunity for teachers and students to have the conversations and practice scenarios. This is definitely a site to check out!
